Meet 2 New Modules: Robot Metrics Infrastructure & Drive-by-Wire System Abstraction

At Polymath Robotics, we make it radically simple to automate off-highway vehicles. Over the next 20 weeks, we’re releasing 40 autonomy modules that make it easier than ever to build your autonomous navigation stack. Each module can be used on its own, or together as a full autonomy solution. This week we’re launching two new modules: GPS Fusion and Center Pivot Configuration.

It’s too hard to build autonomous vehicles

That’s why we built Polymath Robotics – the autonomous navigation toolkit for off-highway vehicles.

Our objective: to simplify the process of automating off-highway vehicles. On average, Polymath knocks over a year off our customers’ autonomy roadmaps. Polymath helps you build off-road robots without drowning in complexity.

As part of that objective, we're introducing 40 Autonomous Navigation Modules in 20 weeks, making off-highway autonomy simpler than ever before.

Last week we released another two modules: GPS Fusion and Center Pivot Configuration.

Today we’re excited to launch our next 2 modules: Drive-by-Wire System Abstraction, and Robot Metrics Infrastructure.

Module #5: Drive-by-Wire System Abstraction

The problem: Most off-highway vehicles lack pre-installed Drive-by-Wire (DbW) functionality, so you need an integrator to install a DbW kit. However, each integrator employs its own unique system that your autonomy stack must integrate with.

Introducing our DbW System Abstraction module – making it easy to issue commands to any DbW system.

How it works: Polymath eliminates system-specific details of your DbW retrofit, enabling seamless communication between different systems or with our other autonomy modules. This abstraction allows any integrator system to receive unified commands.

Module #6: Robot Metrics Infrastructure

The problem: Dealing with massive amounts of robot data is a real struggle. Consider this: recording sensor data on a typical autonomous vehicle eats up ~20GB of storage space per minute. You can run out of disk space in a single hour! And sorting through this mountain of data? Excruciatingly tedious.

That’s why we built our Robot Metrics Infrastructure module – the easy way to capture and analyze only the essential robot data.

How it works: the system (1) triggers data recording based on notable events that you choose, like emergency stops, and (2) listens passively to tally summary metrics like hours in operation.

What makes Robot Metrics Infrastructure so powerful?

Access standard metrics effortlessly: automatically track hours driven, emergency stops, and more. Automatically record data around significant events for streamlined analysis.

Record a custom metric: have a unique event you want to track? No problem! Let us know, and we'll make it happen for you. Tailoring your robot data collection to suit your specific needs has never been easier.

Easy to incorporate: like all our modules, you can use Robot Metrics Infrastructure on its own, or as part of our full autonomous navigation system.

What’s Next

Next week, we’re set to unveil two more of our 40 Autonomous Navigation Modules. Just like before, these modules can seamlessly integrate into your current projects or be combined with other Polymath modules as part of a comprehensive autonomous navigation system.
